Spain vs Norway Preview

Spain vs Norway

Competition – Euro 2020 qualifying

Stadium – Estadio Mestalla

Date: 23rd March 2019

Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT

Spain started their Euro Nations League and the reign of Luis Enrique very well but they fell to consecutive losses in their final two games and that allowed England to qualify ahead of them.

La Roja now have to be among the top two teams in this group by the end of the qualification campaign to reach the Euros next year.

The Spaniards have more than enough quality to make a winning start here and that can be the only reason why a player of Isco’s quality has been dropped while Saul didn’t even make the team initially.

This game could potentially be the toughest of the group for both of these teams especially as Norway topped their group in the Euro Nations League.

The Norwegians haven’t qualified for a major tournament for 19 years and they would be hopeful they can qualify for the Euros by finishing inside the top 2 of this group or making progress in the euro nation’s league playoffs.

Norway may have topped their group in the Euro Nations League however they are still not one of the most competitive sides when it comes to European football.

The last time they faced a big European side it ended in a 6-0 loss at the hands of Germany, so this could be a tough night for them.

Bookmakers believe Spain will come out on top as they are currently trading long odds-on.  Goal markets point to an exciting game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Alvaro Morata is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
