Valencia vs Villarreal Competition – Europa League Stadium – Estadio Mestalla Date: 18th April 2019 Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT
This all Spanish affair seems to be over already after Valencia secured an expected 3-1 win over Villarreal away from home in the first leg. This game should now serve as a farewell game for the visitors who have put in some impressive performances from the group stage and that will allow them to focus on escaping relegation from the Spanish topflight this season. Valencia have built a fine end of season form that could see them return to Champions League football next season. The earned their second consecutive 3-1 win at the weekend when they hosted Levante and that was their fourth win in five games including a 2-1 win over Real Madrid recently. They are three points off fourth position which is occupied by Sevilla and fans would expect them to get into that position by the end of the season if they continue to play this well. Villarreal on the other hand, secured a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Girona at the weekend. What made that win even more impressive is the fact that it came away from home. They scored an early goal through Samuel Chukwueze in the 7th minute and defended it until the end of the game. They will need that sort of determination to earn another win in this game. Bookmakers have priced Valencia up as odds-on favourites to come out on top in this second leg and secure their place in the last 4 of the Europa League. Goal markets are expecting a less thrilling game this time around as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Kevin Gameiro and Moreno Rodrigo are joint favourites to score the opening goal of the game.
