Marseille vs Montpellier Preview

Marseille will be looking to end their season on a high after failing to make the Champions League due to inconsistent performances this season.

They were on a run of three consecutive losses before earning a thrilling 5-2 win over Toulouse last time out.

The home side haven’t had many problems scoring goals, but they have been too poor at the back as their veteran defenders including Adil Rami have had a poor season.

Marseille have lost their last two home games to Lyon and Nantes and their fans would be hoping that is not the case here as the season comes to an end.

Montpellier have been in a better run of form and hold some bragging rights having beaten their host 3-0 in the reverse of this fixture.

The visitors haven’t done the double over Marseille since the 2014/2015 season and they would be keen to at least extend their current unbeaten run which stands at 6 games when both sides meet in this game.

Marseille should be very motivated to end the season strongly in front of their fans but the visitors won’t hand victory to them on a platter.

Bookmakers have priced Marseille up as slight odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game despite their recent issues.

Goal markets point to an exciting game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Florian Thauvin and Mario Baloelli are joint favourites to score the opening goal of the game.
