Argentina vs Peru Preview

Argentina vs Peru

Competition – Copa America

Stadium – Arena Corinthians

Date: 6th July 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 BST

Argentina will end yet another competition without silverware, leaving Lionel Messi with yet another heartbreak on the international stage.

The Argentines started this competition in a disastrous manner and it was only a matter of time before they exited the competition and that came in the semifinal.

Facing fellow favourites Brazil who had home support, the Argentines were overwhelmed in a fiery contest and ended up losing 2-0 after Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino scored for the hosts.

Messi had lots of complaints to make after that game, but he will have to put those behind him and try to help his nation beat Chile at the 3rd time of asking here.

Chile came into this competition as defending champions but were off-colour in the buildup.  They, however, surprised many by reaching the semifinals until they met Peru who were too good for them.

The Chileans have an ageing squad and this could be the last match for the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal and Gonzalo Jara and we expect them to bow out in style.

Chile has beaten Argentina in the final of the last two Copa America’s and they would want to repeat that trick in this game.

Bookmakers have priced Argentina up as slight odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while Chile will start the game as underdogs.
Goal markets point to a lively game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Lionel Messi is favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
