Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid
Competition – Champions League
Stadium – Parc des Princes
Date: 18th September 2019
Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT
PSG and Real Madrid continue to serve up interesting games on matchday 1 in the Champions League as the French giants look to end their wait for a European crown.
With Neymar rumoured to have been courted by Madrid during the summer, this game could have an added source to it, but both of these teams haven’t exactly been firing this season and we could be in for a sloppy match here.
PSG are dealing with several injuries and it showed in their last game against Strasbourg. The French side needed a 92nd-minute wonder goal from Neymar on his return to their starting line up to win the game.
That was the 3rd time in 4 games they have struggled to score more than twice and Thomas Tuchel should be worried.
While they have won all but one of their matches this season, their lack of cutting edge could cost them here.
Real Madrid has had to do another rebuilding job this summer after their struggles of last season. The former European champions have landed Eden Hazard, but Zinedine Zidane couldn’t get his hands on several other targets.
They are currently 3rd and unbeaten in La Liga, but they have a big problem in defence as they haven’t kept a clean sheet all season. They will now look to do better here and get their European campaign started with an away win.
Bookmakers have priced PSG up as favourites to come out on top in this game however Real Madrid are priced up competitively despite playing away from home.
Goal markets point to a lively game as over 2.5 goals is trading odds-on prior to kick-off while Edinson Cavani is clear favourite with oddsmakers to score the opening goal of the game.
