Eintracht Frankfurt vs Arsenal

Competition – Europa League

Stadium – Commerzbank-Arena

Date: 19th September 2019

Kick-off time – 17:55 GMT

Arsenal begin their Europa League campaign with this trip to Germany as Unai Emery looks to go one step further after reaching the final and losing to Chelsea last season.

The Gunners have a manager who has previously won the competition on two occasions but this team seems to still be struggling to get to grips with the Spaniard’s methods.

Arsenal has one of the most potent attacking forces in Europe, but the same cannot be said of their defence and that has been their achilles heel this season.

Having started the season with consecutive wins, Emery’s side has now gone 3 games without a win, picking up just two points on the way.  Frankfurt will look to target their weak defence and that could see the Gunners struggle in front of their home fans.

Frankfurt has also had an inconsistent start to their season but they worked hard to reach the Europa League group stages.

The Germans have lost two of their most influential players in this transfer window as Sebastian Haller and Ante Rebic moved on before the end of the transfer window.

They have won two league games so far but lost 2-1 at Augsburg at the weekend.  While that result wasn’t the best way to prepare for this game, they will now be playing at home here and should do better.

Bookmakers have priced Arsenal up as slight favourites to come out on top in this game however the odds are close and Eintracht Frankfurt are priced up competitively.

Goal markets point to a lively game as over 2.5 goals is trading odds-on prior to kick-off while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
