Southampton vs AFC Bournemouth Preview

After flirting around the relegation zone for much of the past two seasons, Southampton will now look to make progress up the league table by the end of this campaign.

The South Coast outfit started their season poorly after suffering consecutive losses in their first two games of the season, but they have recovered and come into this game unbeaten in their last 4 games in all competitions, three of which have been won with clean sheets.

The Saints are currently 10th in the league table ahead of this game and they will be looking to secure another important win in this South Coast Derby.

Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth has also not made the worst start to their season and they come here 9th in the league table.

They earned an important 3-1 win over Everton last time out so their fans would feel they can get something out of this game as well.

The Cherries have won two league games so far, including an impressive 2-1 away win at Aston Villa.  Bournemouth don’t have the best of away records in the league as they have lost 12 of their last 16 games on the road.

Bookmakers have priced Southampton up as steady favourites to come out on top in this game while goal markets point to a potentially lively game as over 2.5 goals is trading odds-on prior to kick-off.

Callum Wilson, Che Adams and Danny Ings are all vying for favourtism in the first goalscorer market.
