Barcelona had their game against Real Madrid called off at the weekend due to understandable fears of civil unrest in Catalonia. The postponement of that game allowed them to rest some more ahead of this match and their fans would hope that they can earn their 12th consecutive home league win here.
Real Valladolid have made a good start to the season and cannot be written off in this game until after 90 minutes.
Only one team has beaten Barcelona at home in their last 59 games and that was when Real Betis pulled off a shock 3-4 win over the Catalans last November. They have gone on to win almost all of their home games since then.
The Catalans have the advantage heading into this game as they haven’t played a game since their Champions League game in midweek while Valladolid had to play on Saturday.
Valladolid did win that game 2-0 to continue their fine start to the season. That result catapulted them to 8th in the league table and that’s impressive given that they almost got relegated from the top flight in the last campaign.
The visitors are unbeaten in their last 5 games and have lost only twice in the 10 league games they have played so far so they should be feeling confident ahead of this one.
