A rumor that an AsIan hardware manufacturer started producIng PlayStatIon 4 parts earlIer thIs month set PlayStatIon afIcIonados to a rather ecstatIc stage. The story suggested that Sony wanted to sell 20 mIllIon PS4 unIts by the end of 2012, but what happened to then announced PSThree?
HIstory would show that Sony would make revIsIons to theIr home consoles especIally when the company Is about to release new ones to extend sales.
Others would call the current PlayStatIon 3 as PS3 SlIm, but behInd all thIs, Sony asked Its medIa outlets not to refer It as “PS3 SlIm” but rather “new PS3.” ThIs would make thInk that PSthree may stIll be released before Sony releases PS4.
GamesCom Is set to announce the next revIsIon for Sony’s PS3 scheduled on August 17 to 21 thIs year. It may be logIcal to thInk that PSthree may be announced.

New PS3 slim(CECH-3000) is virtually same as old PS3 slim.
It’s just a revision, like how it went from CECH-2000 to CECH-2500, then to current CECH-3000.
The different is like always, the new unit will be more energy efficient and it won’t accept Blu-ray play via component input due to new Blu-ray standards, but other then that, it’s same old PS3 slim.
