Spain U20 vs France U20 Match Preview: FIFA U20 World Cup

France under 20’s clash with Spain under 20’s this Thursday evening in what could be the tie of the tournament so far.  Both sides are in excellent form and the winner of this match will top the group moving into the knockout stages.

Spain defeated USA 4:1 in their opening match with an impressive performance before a 1:0 victory over Ghana.

France defeated Ghana 3:1 in the opening game of the tournament followed by a 1:1 draw against USA.

USA can still qualify for the knockout stages but in order to do so they must defeat Ghana handsomely and hope Spain can defeat France by a few goals (currently 5 goals difference between France and USA in the group).

Recent form:

Spain U20 – W W D W L W W

France U20 – D W D W W W W

Spain have lost just one game in seven while France are undefeated in seven.

Group A looks like this:

Ghana are the only team who cannot qualify for the knockout stages (via automatic placings – 1st & 2nd).  USA have an outside chance of qualifying if they can defeat Ghana and France lose (goal difference comes into play in this scenario).

These two sides have not met at under 20 level in recent years so there is no history to go on.

Bookmakers side with Spain in this tie.

Current betting odds: Spain U20 (6/5) Draw (9/4) France U20 (23/10)

Gamingtips Prediction – Spain U20 2:3 France U20

Both sides have been very impressive so far in this tournament – Spain have looked excellent in possesion and play similar to the senior Spanish team.  Although France have played very well, it appears there is still more to come from them and we may see a very impressive performance from France under 20’s tonight.

Spain struggled to finish Ghana off last time out while France blundered against USA (1:1) who they were expected to defeat comfortably.

From a betting angle, over 2.5 goals at 1/1 appears to offer good value for punters.

All eyes will be on Paul Pogba for France and Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu for Spain tonight.

This game gets underway at 18:00 GMT+0 and can be viewed live on British Eurosport.
