The 2013 British Open Betting Odds, Tee Times, Preview & Free Bets

The 142nd British Open begins this Thursday (18th-21st July) at Muirfield with over 150 players set to tee off for the £954,000 winners prize and their name on one of golf’s most sought after trophies.

Tiger Woods is clear favourite with bookmakers despite a run of 16 majors without a win.

Other notable favourites include Phil Mickelson who won the Scottish Open last week, Justin Rose who won the 2013 US Open and Merion and Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters winner and runner-up here last year.

Jordan Spieth won the John Deere Classic with an unbelievable chip shot at the 18th and because of that win, he comes into this tournament as a lively outsider.

Full field and their respective odds are below (as of 11:40 GMT+1, July 17th – click to enlarge):

2013 British Open Betting Odds

Most bookmakers are offering 7 places each-way and  is offering punters a way to double player odds this week.

New customers can enjoy a 100% deposit bonus up to £200 meaning that players who back Tiger Woods at 9/1 can use their free betting stake to effectively get 18/1 odds.

Gamingtips Prediction: With over 150 players it’s difficult to pick a winner with such depth in quality – Tiger Woods is hungry for his first major win in 16, Phil Mickelson and Jason Day have been knocking on the door of a major win and can definitely feature this week.

Ernie Els will bid to defend this week and has been playing well (won the BMW International Open last month).

Graeme Mcdowell has been winning tournaments this year and has the patient game required for this golf course.

Lee Westwood and Luke Donald are still searching for their first major win and both are playing well enough to compete.

Other players to watch out for include Matt Kuchar (ranked 6th), Steve Stricker (ranked 10th), Louis Oosthuizen (ranked 11th), Charl Schwartzel (ranked 14th) and Sergio Garcia (ranked 15th).

For punters, good each-way bets could be Brandt Snedeker, Henrik Stenson and the fotgotten Rory Mcilroy.

Snedeker and Stenson are both excellent iron players and are very fun and easy to watch while Rory Mcilroy could be the forgotten one this week (28/1) – he has said his game is in good shape and if he can limit his bad shots, he may be massively overpriced at 28/1.

Our best bet of the week is for new customers with  – Claim a 100% free deposit bonus, back Rory Mcilroy each-way effectively getting double your odds (56/1) – if he finishes in the top 7 with £25 each-way (£25 deposit – £12.50 each-way, £25 free – double stake/double odds) you will receive over £175 in returns.  If he happens to win, you will return over £850.

Rory Mcilroy was previously 9/1 to win this tournament but due to his poor run of form, he has drifted massively with bookmakers and betting exchanges.
