South Korea vs Germany
Competition – FIFA World Cup
Stadium – Kazan Arena
Date: 27th June 2018
Kick-off time – 15:00 GMT
South Korea have already been eliminated and it was not the most unpredictable outcome so far.
The Asians started their campaign with a 1-0 loss to Sweden before losing 2-1 to Mexico despite Heug-min Son scoring a stunning goal.
The Asians were hoping to recreate their magical performance of Korea/Japan 2002 but instead they could leave this competition without a win since that 2002 competition if they fail to stop this Germany side who have everything to play for.
Germany came into this competition on a poor run of form that saw them beat only Saudi Arabia in their previous 8 games.
They started badly and were caught napping at the back on numerous occasions by Mexico who eventually beat them 1-0 in their first match.
Their next game almost ended in defeat especially after they went a man down while the game was a stalemate.
The Germans battled hard and a late Toni Kroos goal helped them win to remain in with a chance of reaching the next round.
A win here would see them avoid being the fourth defending champion to exit a World Cup at the group stages in the last five editions.
The Koreans are as solid at the back as Sweden is so Germany will need to be on point to open up this Asian team.
Germany are strong odds-on favourites with bookmakers to come out on top and progress to the knockout stages.
