Chelsea vs Manchester United Preview

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Competition – FA Cup

Stadium – Stamford Bridge

Date: 18th February 2019

Kick-off time – 19:30 GMT

Chelsea fans will be hoping that their recent good run of results against Manchester United in this competition can help them get the win here and show that they are better than the team that was destroyed by Manchester City recently.

Their 6-0 loss to Manchester City exposed just how much work Maurizio Sarri has on his hands in trying to make the Blues title challengers, however, they have held the upper hand whenever they have met Manchester United in the FA Cup recently and they will be looking to return to winning ways after a disappointing display last weekend.

The last four times that Chelsea have been paired with Manchester United in the FA Cup, the Blues have knocked the Red Devils out and their fans will hope for more of the same in this game.

Manchester United’s unbeaten start to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign was ended by Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League in midweek.

It was an extremely tough day for the Red Devils as Paul Pogba ended up getting sent off and will miss the second leg of that tie.

That result brought the Red Devils back down to earth, but there have been signs that a first defeat under the Norwegian was on the cards especially after their 2-2 home draw with Burnley.

Manchester United have enjoyed some thrilling wins against the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal recently, but Chelsea are usually a tough team to beat when they play at home.

Chelsea have won two of the last three head-to-head clashes between these sides and all have come at Stamford Bridge.

Bookmakers have priced Chelsea up as steady favourites to come out on top in this game.

Goal markets point to a high-scoring cup tie as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Gonzalo Higuain is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game closely followed by Eden Hazard.

This game gets underway at 19:30 BST.
