Eintracht Frankfurt vs Chelsea

Competition – UEFA Europa League

Stadium – Commerzbank-Arena

Date: 2nd May 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT

Chelsea will continue their bid for a trophy this season when they visit the impressive Eintracht Frankfurt in their Europa League semifinal.

The Blues would love to end the season with a trophy even though they won’t be too disappointed with a 4th placed finish.

They made an attempt to get a trophy this season when they took Manchester City all the way to penalties in the Carabao Cup but they still fell short.

A trophy this season could help save the job of Maurizio Sarri.  They managed to earn a share of the points when they took on Manchester United at the weekend and that away performance could give them motivation to go for the win in this game.

Eintracht Frankfurt come into this game as one of the most impressive teams in this competition and a win for them here and in the finals would represent significant progress as they won the German Cup in 2018 and could finish inside the German top four this season.

The Germans had to overturn a first leg loss to Benfica (4:2) in the last round and they did just that, winning the return leg 2-0 to go through on away goals.

They have lost just one of their Europa League games this year and they won all of their group games in impressive fashion.

Frankfurt should be tough opponents for Chelsea in this game.

This is an extremely close betting market as Chelsea are currently favourits by less than a quarter of a point.  A influx of cash for the German side could see them start the match as favourites however at present they will start the first leg as slight underdogs.

Goal markets are expecting a tight game as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Gonzalo Higuain are all vying for favourtism in the first goalscorer market.
