Portugal vs Switzerland Preview

Portugal vs Switzerland

Competition – UEFA Nations League

Stadium – Estadio do Dragao

Date: 5th June 2019

Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT

Portugal will be looking to win this game and reach the final of this inaugural Euro Nations League on home soil.

The Portuguese have been tipped to win this competition by Jose Mourinho and we have a feeling that the former Manchester United manager made that prediction because of this game, but Switzerland shouldn’t be underestimated.

Portugal won the last European championship and although they didn’t go too far at the last World Cup, with Cristiano Ronaldo still available for selection they can get to the final with a win here.

The Swiss have played their part in the most recent meetings between these sides and they will not allow themselves to be pushed over here.

Xherdan Shaqiri has just won the Champions League with Liverpool and he will be hoping to inspire his countrymen to a win in this game.

The Swiss did a great job of beating Belgium 5-2 to reach the semifinal and they could thrive as underdogs.

Portugal has lost just one game since exiting the World Cup, but nine of their last 15 games have ended in draws, so this game remains open for the taking.

Bookmakers have priced Portugal up as odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while Switzerland will start the game as underdogs.

Goal markets point to a tight affair as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while as with almost every Portugal game, Cristiano Ronaldo is clear favourite with oddsmakers to score the opening goal of the game.

This game gets underway at 19:45 BST.
