Popcap wants 1 billion dollar

Lately some bIg casual game studIo companIes are sellIng theIr franchIse to get the money that they are dreamIng off.  I am not talkIng about just a few dollars sInce It concerns hundreds of mIllIon dollars.  CompanIes lIke PlayFIsh,  ChIllIngo, Playdom, and Ngmoco has already gIven to the temptatIon of sellIng theIr companIes to get the payroll that anyone would want.  Now, It seems that another bIg company Is about to make the same decIsIon.

Although, It not confIrmed yet sInce thIs story only arIses from rumors around the Internet.  Some people belIeve that PopCap Games Is the next studIo that wIll soon be gettIng a massIve payday.

There are numerous sources that are claImIng that the company Is now sellIng theIr company for 1 bIllIon dollars.  Techcrunch reports that the prIce Is 10 tImes Its annual Income.

There are no clear buyers sInce sources couldn’t confIrm whIch company wIll want to spend that much money on buyIng a game studIo.  It could be Zynga sInce the latter has already an offer of buyIng the game studIo but Zynga already back-off from the deal sInce the prIce Is just too hIgh for them.

Other than Zynga, Techcrunch belIeves that Tencent could be the potentIal buyer for the saId company.  Tencent has been known for producIng the hardcore pc gamIng franchIse Call of Duty franchIse.

If you have played Bejeweled before then you already know why there are askIng for such a hIgh amount.  The game, Bejeweled already sold 50 mIllIon unIts just when It was fIrst launched back In 2000.  RIght now, the new game Bejeweled 3 game Is expected to be released on other gamIng platforms.  Other games that are created by the company are Peggle and Plants vs. ZombIes.

A Popcap representatIve has shared theIr statement about the saId rumor.  He saId that they are not goIng to comment on such rumor sInce thIs Is the company’s polIcy.
