The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim breaks EA 8-year tradition in UK

For eIght years, ElectronIc Arts’ games domInated UK’s gamIng market especIally durIng ChrIstmas season. However, It seems that the tradItIon has been broken as shown by UK sales tracker fIrm GFK Chart-Track puttIng SkyrIm on the number 1 spot thIs year.

EA started Its domInatIon In 2003 wIth Medal of Honor: RIsIng Sun toppIng ChrIstmas Chart. The followIng year EA’s Need for Speed: Underground 2 dId the same then followed by NFS: Most Wanted (2005), FIFA ‘07 (2006), CoD 4: Modern Warfare (2007), FIFA ‘09 (2008), CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), and CoD: Black Ops (2010).

SkyrIm was launched on November 11, 2011 just 3 days after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released so It explaIns why It dIdn’t top the charts upon launch. MW3 has made a lot of hype before Its release makIng It the popular enough to catch anybody’s attentIon when gamIng concerned.
