Wigan vs Arsenal Match Preview – Barclays Premier League

Wigan Athletic take on Arsenal FC this Saturday (22nd December 2012) at the DW Stadium.  Wigan have only managed to win one of their last seven matches with five defeats and one draw.  Arsenal’s form has been shaky of late; they have managed only two wins in their last seven matches, with three losses and two draws.  Arsenal outclassed Reading in their latest match on Monday night with an impressive 5-2 win and this will undoubtedly give them confidence going into a crucial Christmas period.

Wigan are currently 18th in the Barclays Premier League and a win or draw may take them out of the relegation places depending on other match results.  Arsenal are currently 5th and a win could see them jump to 3rd however that will still leave them at least 12 points behind the leaders Manchester United.

The last five meetings between these two sides have ended 2:1, 0:4, 0:3, 2:2 and 0:2.  These two sides have met 18 times in recent years, Arsenal winning 13, Wigan winning 3 and both teams sharing the points on 2 occasions

Both teams have injury worries.  Ivan Ramis, Gary Caldwell and James McCarthy are all struggling with injuries for Wigan while Laurent Koscielny may be unavailable for Arsenal.

The current betting odds are Wigan (4/1) Draw (11/4)  Arsenal (7/10).

Gamingtips Prediction – Wigan 1:3 Arsenal
