Manchester City vs Reading Match Preview – Barclays Premier League

Manchester City take on Reading at the Etihad stadium this Saturday at 15:00 GMT (22nd December).  Manchester City will be confident after a convincing 3:1 win at Newcastle over the weekend whereas Reading are on a six game losing streak having failed to score on four of the six defeats.  Reading currently sit bottom of the Barclays Premier League having won only one game out of seventeen; they have also conceded 36 goals in 17 games which makes visiting the second highest scoring team in the league that more daunting.

A win for Manchester City will close the gap to three points at the top of the table with leaders Manchester United playing on Sunday at Swansea which may be a tricky game for the leaders.  A win for Reading will take them  3 points from the relegation zone however this is surely a game where they will want to give a good account of themselves and if they can come out with a point they have done well.  If we’re to look at recent history, Reading have actually won 5 out of 9 matches with City winning 3 and both teams shared the points once.  Reading have a tough Christmas period ahead of them; they face Swansea, West Ham and Tottenham in their next three matches which are must win matches if they are to avoid the dreaded “bottom at Christmas” curse.

Both teams have injury worries; Manchester City may be without influential defender and captain Vincent Kompany who is struggling with a groin injury.  They may also be without James Milner who is struggling with a hamstring injury.  Sean Morrison may return from injury for Reading but they may be without Striker Jason Roberts who is said to have a 50/50 chance of being fit.

On paper this match looks like a comfortable Manchester City win and the bookmakers can see no other outcome with the current betting odds: Manchester City (1/7) Draw (7/1) Reading (18/1).

Gamingtips Prediction: Manchester City 4:1 Reading
